Another day, another coffee review!
Today we review a couple of roasts from our friends from the Pacific Northwest, Portland Roasting Coffee!
Since our inception in 1996, Portland Roasting Coffee has been sourcing directly and building sustainable relationships with coffee farmers and communities. We are guided by a set of values that affects every decision we make with regard to our customers, farmers, products and employees.
There are currently three locations open in the Portland International Airport, in terminals D/E, terminal C and in Pre-Security near the Delta Ticketing Counter.
They were kind enough to send us:
1) Organic Ethiopia | Whole Bean light roast
2) Enthusiast Collection “Kenya Ndimaina AA” | Whole Bean light roast
I’m not much of a fan of light roasts, so this particular roast wasn’t for me. It was light and delicate and on the sweeter side. I could definitely taste the notes of lemon that the packaging suggested.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a light roast to try. If you like light and sweet, this is for you.
The Enthusiast Collection “Kenya Ndimaini AA” | from $18.00
Although this was another light roast, it punched above its weight and made me want to use these beans for several cups.
The packaging suggests notes of orange, brown sugar and honey. I could definitely taste a distinctly brown sugar note as well as some cacao. This roast tasted much more like a medium body than light, which I enjoyed. It had a much more complex flavour profile than the Organic Ethiopian and it was a treat trying to discern each distinct taste.
I would highly recommend this to anyone from the average joe to the true enthusiast.
